Development of Grooved Acetate Filter Rod

In order to improve the filtration efficiency of cigarette filter, a novel grooved filter rod consisted of diacetate cellulose tow filter core, pure cellulose tissue (basis weight 80 g/m²) with C-shape grooves and plug wrap was developed.In fact, that was a dual filter rod composed of a regular diacetate tow rod section and an equal length grooved rod section.The results showed that the hardness of the grooved filter was 2 to 3 percentage points higher; the tar delivery was reduced to 75.31%-86.34%, while kept cigarette taste basically unchanged comparing with regular acetate filter cigarette.
