Cultural Practice of Oriental Tobacco in Yunnan

The cultural practice of oriental tobacco in Yunnan Province were introduced as follows:1) choosing quality variety, Xanthi Basma, Komotini, and Izmir were popularized in Yunnan Province;2) sowing, 0.5-1g of bare seeds or 5-6 packages (0.01kg/package) of coating seeds were sowed every 10m² 60-70 days before transplanting;3) seedbed managing, water and fertilizer should be managed attentively, seedling should be pulled, final singled and hardened timely;4) transplanting and population, transplanting was taken place from November 20 to December 10 with double-line planting.The population density was 210000 seedlings per ha;5) field managing, water and fertilizer were two important aspects, plants were watered once while about 20 days after transplanting and once during fast growing stage depending on actual weather, 7500-15000kg of organic fertilizer and 45kg of nitrogen fertilizer (N:P:K=1:2:3) were generally applied in every ha, 70 percent of the fertilizers were applied before planting and 30 percent were applied during growing period.
