Review, Current Situation and Prospect of the Course of Reducing Tar in Domestic Cigarettes

Three stages of reducing tar in domestic cigarettes and the significant achievements obtained in the past twenty years were reviewed briefly. The statistical results of tar in domestic cigarettes for market sampling inspection and routine inspection in 2002 were presented and the existing problems were analyzed. For cigarette manufacturers the question of how to achieve the 2005 target of tar reduction in domestic cigarettes set by STMA was also discussed.
