Correlation between Expansion Effect and Filling Value of Cut Stem under Different Pressure

The relationship between expansion effect and cigarette yield of cut stem was studied in particular. With cigarette yield as the index of evaluating expansion effect, the correlation between expansion effect of cut stem and its filling value under different pressure was obtained. The experimental results showed that cigarette yield and expansion effect of cut stem was positively correlated and the cigarette yields of cut stem with different expansion effect demonstrated pretty good correlation with its filling value under zero pressure (natural bulk status) and 9.8N for 30s, the later condition could be used as a standard for evaluating expansion effect of cut stem, because the filling value determined under this condition most exactly reflected the actual expansion effect of cut stem. The natural bulk volume method was also simple and effective, bigger natural bulk volume meant better expansion effect.
