Breeding of Quality and Mosaic Resistant Tobacco by Somatic Cell Hybrid
-
Abstract
For breeding new TMV-resistant tobacco varieties, the interspecific somatic cell hybrid between N. tobacum CV.G 140 and N. undulata was conducted. The TMV-resistant progeny were selected and identified by morphological differences, peroxidase labeling, and chromosome numbers, from which the plants of somatic cell hybrid were obtained. Several quality and virus-resistant variants were obtained by selecting and identifying during three growth seasons in field experiments and virus inoculation experiments.
