Analysis of Aroma Components in Essential Oil from Ficus carica and its Application in Cigarette Flavoring

  • Ficus carica was extracted with supercritical CO2 fluid in order to develop new natural resource for cigarette flavoring. The average yield of essential oil from Ficus carica was 3.36%. 61 kinds of aroma components were identified in the oil with GC/MS and Wiley spectroscopy database indexing, of these, 13 major components were quantitatively analyzed by capillary GC method using benzyl acetate as an internal standard. The essential oil was applied to cigarettes as flavoring, the sensory evaluation indicated that the cigarette smoke was smoother and mellower, the offensive taste was masked effectively, and the smoking quality was improved.
