Variety Comparison Test of Maryland Tobacco

  • In order to select quality Maryland tobacco varieties, the field comparison test of 6 introduced varieties and 5 F1 hybrids were conducted. The results showed that 1) the F1 hybrid MH5 had good growth vigor, less tobacco black shank and leaf diseases infection, higher yield and the highest output value, the appearance and smoking quality of the cured leaf were fine, and the proportion of chemical constituents was harmonious; 2) the introduced variety Md872 had good growth vigor and disease resistance, the highest yield, and higher output value, the appearance and smoking quality of cured leaf were better. Both of these varieties were better than Md609 (control). In addition, the characterics of the introduced variety Md10 was as good as Md609's.
