A Method for Evaluating the Uniformity of Cigarette Flavoring
-
Abstract
In order to control the quality of cigarette flavoring accurately, the uniformity and accuracy of cigarette flavoring were examined by analysis of the headspace volatiles of flavored cut tobacco with gas chromatography mass spectrometry. The results showed that the flavoring amount was linearly correlated with the peak area of the characteristic compound. The relative standard deviation of this method was below 1% and the average recovery of the characteristic compound was 94.5%. It was concluded that this method could be used to evaluate the accuracy and uniformity of cigarette flavoring.
