Improving Tobacco Quality with Pectin-degrading Microorganisms

  • In order to reduce the cell wall substances and pectin and improve its smoking quality, the upper leaf of flue-cured tobacco was treated with pectinase obtained from strain DPE-005 isolated from quality tobacco leaves. The results showed that the treated tobacco contained less cell wall substances and pectin and its smoking quality was improved significantly.
