Effect of Draw-ratio on the Properties of Polypropylene Tow for Cigarette Filter

The effects of spinneret and draw-ratio on the properties of polypropylene(PP)cigarette tow were studied.The results showed that PP fibers spun by the spinneret with smaller orifices had higher crystallinity, smaller breaking-power per dtex and better cutting property.After heat treatment, the properties of PP fibers changed significantly when post-draw-ratio was 2.0:1 or so.When post-draw-ratio was over 2.0:1, the breaking-power per dtex decreased and the sound-velocity orientation increased with the increase of post-draw-ratio.
