Experiments on Production of Slim Filter with Acetate Tow of Low Denier

The slim filter rods are produced with acetate tow of 3.33Y/3889 (dtex/tex)by AF2/KDF2 filter rod maker. The diameter and draw resistance of the filter rod are 23.8mm and 3280 to 4290Pa, respectively. The hardness of the filter rod comes up to the national standards when the content of plasticizer in the filter rod exceeds 8%. It is found that the draw resistance is increasingly affected by the variation of rod weight and diameter with the decreasing of rod diameter. In comparison with the filter produced with acetate tow of 3.67 Y/4111 (dtex/tex), the consumption of the tow for the slim filter rod is reduced by 3.5% to 4.8% and filtration efficiency of tar is increased by 1%.
