Study on the Roasting Technology of Burley Tobacco

Abstract
4 typical kinds of domestic burley tobaccos were roasted under different air temperature and humidity.Chemical compositions of burley tobacco were analyzed before and after roasting.Results showed that 1) air humidity in drying section was an important factor that affected material temperature and quality of burley tobacco treated,and 2) the different roasting conditions should be applied according to the sensory and chemical characters of burley tobacco.The conclusions were that a higher air temperature and lower air humidity should be applied in the treatment of burley tobacco with heavy offensive odor,high total nitrogen and total volatile bases,and on the contrary,a relative low air temperature and high air humidity should be used to treat the burley tobacco with full flavor,medium total nitrogen and total volatile bases.
