Improving Usability of Burley Tobacco with Optimum Cultural Practices

The field experiments of nitrogen level applied,topping stages,number of leaves left,and harvesting date were conducted.The results showed that nitrogen level was significantly correlated with nicotine contents.Topping stage,number of leaves left and harvesting date greatly influenced the nicotine content and TN/Nic..The suitable nicotine level,chemical components,yields,value and high usability of burley tobacco could be obtained when nitrogen level applied was 187.5-225 kg/ha,topping at full flower stage,22-24 leaves per plant,and stalk-cutting at 20 days after topping.
