Discussion on Low Curl Drying
-
Abstract
Technical characteristics of the low curl drying and conventional redrying technologies were compared. It was believed that advantages of the low curl drying were reducing lamina curl formation and the loss of flavor components in tobacco leaves during the redrying process, and its disadvantages were that capital cost, power consumption and occupying space of equipments for the process would be increased, and it was also very difficult to kill mold and pest eggs in tobacco and reduce undesirable aroma and irritation of lamina during the new redrying process because the drying temperature was lower. It was suggested that the correct selection of tobacco redrying technology would be beneficial to both tobacco redrying plant and cigarette factory.
