Discussion on Crimp Process of Acetate Tows

Three major factors affecting tow crimped energy in the process of acetate tows were studied. The results showed that more short crimp curves were produced with increase of tow crimped energy and the tow crimped energy could be increased to 260-290 g. cm/cm by increasing flapper pressure and moisture contents of the tow properly. It was very important to keep the lowest roller pressure under a given tow crimped energy. The filtration efficiency and draw resistance stability of filter rod made from the tows under these crimp conditions were increased significantly.
