Rapid Determination of Vinyl Acetate in Cigarette Emulsion Adhesive by Near Infrared Spectrometry
-
Abstract
In order to rapidly determine the vinyl acetate content in cigarette emulsion adhesive, 70 cigarette emulsion adhesive samples were scanned by near infrared (NIR) diffusive spectrometry and the contents of vinyl acetate in the samples were analyzed by headspace-gas chromatography (HS-GC). The NIR models for predicting the vinyl acetate contents were developed by constant elimination data pre-processing and partial least square (PLS) regression, and the models were validated with external validation. The results showed that the average relative deviations between the predictive and GC-determined values were less than 5%, RSDs were all less than 4%. This method was suitable for the rapid determination of vinyl acetate in batches of cigarette emulsion adhesive samples.
