Filter Additive Capable of Increasing Moisture Content in Cigarette Smoke

Abstract
In order to increase the moisture content in cigarette smoke,a filter additive(ZW) was prepared from zeolite via ultrasonic processing in water.Due to the porous structure of zeolite and its large specific surface area,the moisture content in ZW was over 50%.ZW had several features:1) The change of moisture content in ZW was lower than 2.5% in a successive 15-week test,which indicated ZW had a strong moisture retentivity and maintained of its the moisture content,over 50%,at room temperature.2) During simulated cigarette smoking,the adsorbed moisture released from ZW rapidly when filter temperature reached 45-50℃.3) The moisture content in cigarette smoke increased by 19.89% after adding ZW into cigarette filter,while the contents of other routine chemical components did not change obviously.4) Sensory evaluation showed that the cigarette with a ZW-added filter offered improved sensory quality,lower irritation and more comfortable aftertaste.
